This tree is now your kuleana. It is freely shared with you in exchange for your help in learning on how to help Iliahi thrive as a backyard tree throughout the island and expand the canopy of native trees.

Iliahi are highly interdependent, technically speaking they are hemi-parasitic, and need neighboring nitrogen-fixing trees to thrive. That’s why ideally you also have a koa tree or other similar tree planted 3-feet apart from them when they go into the ground.
